Thursday 29. September, Live from our Studio in Berlin, interview with Cedrik Fermont

On Thursday 29. September from 21:00 onwards, Adrian Shephard and yours sincerely, Rinus Van Alebeek will host Cedrik Fermont in a live transmission from the Radio On studio in Berlin.

Cedrik Fermont is one of the two authors of Not Your World Music, a book, so says the blurb “about art, politics, identity, gender and global capitalism.”

And more specificly you will find that the topics range “from academic electronic music to do-it-yourself noise in South East Asia.”

The authors write about “contemporary and past noise, electroacoustic, industrial, experimental music and sound art in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar/Burma, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.

The book is structured around “political, historical and sociological essays, exclusive interviews with artists and organizers.”

It gives you “an extensive bibliography of popular music from South East Asia and a thorough discography of noise and experimental music artists.”

Cedrik will be in the studio to talk about the book and present a choice of South East Asian noise(s).
