Don Campau normally presents songs from tapes that were send to him over the last thirty years. His ongoing shows here on Radio On have become a sonic encyclopedia of the individuals, that in the 1980s and 1990s have used the audio cassette as a medium for exchanging their musical experiments. The cassette culture was a very individual, a-commercial movement that mainly existed as a postal phenomena.
Since Don is a radio dj for a very long time now, bands and artists also sent him their vinyls. While re-organising his garage he found the 7′ vinyl releases. Now that is something. Glad Don has dedicated a show to it, and has made a choice that sparkles with joy and enthusiasm. It’s wild and very energising. John Peel would have drewled in his grave if he had heard this one.

The No Pigeonholes radio show is a result of Don’s direct involvement with the cassette culture, the vast network of home-produced cassette exchangers that anticipated the internet, its social networks and the whole shabam of netlabels and free downloadable musicians. An attempt to archive the movement is in his Living Archive of Underground Music.
