Little by little the no Pigeonholes shows by Don Campau give the listener an insight into one of the most massive movements that ever existed in the margins of independently produced musics. Don was there when it started in the mid seventies, and is still here to introduce, play and tell the little stories that come with each song.
True that the first peak of the home-produced musics was reached in the 80s. And for every show Don grabs at least one tape from that period from the shelves, a shelf by the way that is full of tapes, vinyls and CDs sent to him over the last forty years. In the new No Pigeonholes show Don Campau presents part two of outsider music, this time with a lot of musics made by women. Read about the first part here.

The No Pigeonholes radio show is a result of Don’s direct involvement with the cassette culture, the vast network of home-produced cassette exchangers that anticipated the internet, its social networks and the whole shabam of netlabels and free downloadable musicians. An attempt to archive the movement is in his Living Archive of Underground Music.
