The Wheel and The Axle (episode 4) by The Sheffield Patrol Group

Live or undead from the New Jerusalem of Northern England, SHEFFIELD PATROL GROUP presents:
THE WHEEL AND THE AXLE 4
Bismillah in The House of Dreams

We were sitting on the wooden bench in the grounds of Tapton Hill Congregational Church, listening to Raga Shuddh Kalyan – Khyal in Vilambit Teental by Kishori Amonkar on our phones after observing the lights of the traffic passing along Manchester Road reflected on the body of a slug, when we realised that our ‘horrible quasi-demonic soundscapes’ are heavily influenced by Indian Classical Music, in that they take a maximalist wall of sound approach, consisting of numerous overlapping sonic events, which nevertheless allow a dominant audio narrative to be identified, picked up on and followed throughout.
We decided to explore this realisation on our next audio project and ‘Bismillah in The House of Dreams’ is the result.
