In the continuing story about the cassette culture Don Campau takes us to his garage. Here over five thousand cassettes are stored. Most of them arrived by post. Don decided to make a kind of archeologic expedition and virtually travel through various layers of time and music.
If Don needed a blank tape, he went down to the drugstore and bought a couple. Back in his garage a number of tape machines and instruments would do the rest: produce a cassette, a finished work of home made art, not a demo tape. Engage the tape machine, make a copy, get the artwork xeroxed and send it out to like-minded friends in all corners of the world.
Again he presents a worthful insight into the cassette culture movement, if it is at all possible to understand the impact and the force of the enormous creative explosion that hit earth in the early 80s.

The No Pigeonholes radio show is a result of Don’s direct involvement with the cassette culture, the vast network of home-produced cassette exchangers that anticipated the internet, its social networks and the whole shabam of netlabels and free downloadable musicians. An attempt to archive the movement is in his Living Archive of Underground Music.
